Daeun: your ten-year luck

Daeun are the great seasons of life that change every ten years. If your birth chart is the land, Daeun is the wind and weather over it.

How Daeun are set

Daeun start from your month pillar and move one step at a time, forward or backward. The direction depends on the yin or yang of your birth year and on your sex.

The age at which your first Daeun begins is counted from the number of days between your birthday and the nearest solar term. That is why Daeun change at a different age for everyone.

Ten years, one year, one month

Daeun is the weather of a decade, Seun the weather of a year, Wolun the weather of a month. Smaller weather moves inside the bigger season.

The same year feels different depending on which Daeun you are in. Saju weaves the three together to read your present.

Tailwind and headwind

A Daeun that brings the element your chart needs (your Yongsin) is a tailwind: the same effort goes further and people gather around you.

A Daeun that brings a burdensome element is a headwind. It is wiser then to protect and prepare than to expand. The years around a change of Daeun often bring big turns in life.

How to use your Daeun

Expand with the tailwind; consolidate and learn in the headwind. Knowing your next Daeun early buys you time to prepare.

Even a good Daeun only carries those who are ready. Daeun does not hand you results; it is a calendar that tells you when.
