Yongsin and Gisin

Yongsin is the element that brings your chart into balance; Gisin is the element that breaks it. The conclusions of a Saju reading come from here.

Why look for Yongsin

Most charts lean to one side. Some have too much strength, some too little.

An overflowing chart needs an element that drains it; a weak chart needs one that supports it. That needed element is the Yongsin, the useful god.

Three ways to find it

Eokbu (抑扶), restraining and supporting: hold back a strong chart, help a weak one. This is the foundation.

Johu (調候), adjusting the climate: balance the cold, heat, dryness and damp of your birth season. Born in deep winter, fire is precious; born in high summer, water is. Tonggwan (通關), bridging: use an element that links two energies in conflict.

Gisin and Gusin

Gisin is the element that breaks your Yongsin. In years when it grows strong, things tangle and strain comes easily.

Gusin is the element that feeds the Gisin. Knowing your Yongsin, Huisin (the helper of Yongsin), Gisin and Gusin together shows which times are good and which are hard.

Living with your Yongsin

Keep close the colors, directions, seasons, work and people of your Yongsin element. If your Yongsin is Wood, blue-green, the east, and work that grows or teaches others give you strength.

Above all, knowing the Daeun and years that bring your Yongsin lets you decide when to move and when to wait.
